Walter Cruttenden is a financial services innovator, having founded and served as CEO of Roth Capital a leader in funding emerging growth companies since 1983. Walter also founded and served as CEO of the investment banking arm of E*Trade which became the number one provider of online IPOs before its sale. Walter then co-founded Acorns the first and largest micro investing platform, with his son Jeffrey. Mr. Cruttenden also founded and took public SRS Labs a leader in acoustic technology, before its sale. He also authored the books Lost Star of Myth and Time and The Great Year Adventures with Tommy the Time-Traveling Turtle, and wrote and produced the award winning documentary The Great Year. Cruttenden currently serves as Chairman of Acorns, CEO of its two regulated entities, Acorns Securities and Acorns Advisers, and Executive Director of the Binary Research Institute. Christopher Cruttenden isa co‐founder and owner of multiple successful software companies. Mr Cruttenden’s 19‐year career in advertising, marketing and technology solutions has included entrepreneurial and consulting experience with companies ranging from technology startups to Fortune 500 companies.
A writer by training, Mr. Cruttenden started his career as a copywriter at DGWB, a Southern California Advertising Agency, where he had won several national awards for advertising excellence. During his tenure in advertising, Mr. Cruttenden crossed over to the solutions side of technology and eventually left to help Co‐Found E*Offering, where he served as director of marketing. At E*Offering he helped to pioneer online access to IPO’s and establish the largest retail distribution network of its time. In 2000 E*OFFERING was sold to WitSoundview for $350 million. Mr. Cruttenden recognized the increasing demand for Web‐based enrollment, distribution and tracking platforms in the financial services industry and responded by co‐founding NetChemistry in 2000. Under Mr. Cruttenden’s direction, NetChemistry quickly landed multiple global investment banks as clients and became recognized as the leader in the online offering space. To date NetChemistry’s software applications have raised billions of dollars in private equity financing. In 2005, Mr. Cruttenden guided NetChemistry into the Health Care Sector by working with Safety Net programs to introduce “The Four Pillars of Health Technology Suite” consisting of Enrollment, Tracking, Management and Communication. With a strong technology foundation laid Cruttenden set his sights on improving access to specialty care by creating “Converge” a next-generation eConsult platform connecting medical, behavioral & social service providers in a peer to peer network. To date NetChemistry’s suite of applications have received multiple awards for their innovative achievement in improving access to care for over 10,000,000 patients. Mr Cruttenden currently serves as President of NetChemistry in Newport Beach, CA focused on improving lives through technology. He holds a bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo and attended the Portfolio Center of Advertising in Atlanta, Georgia.
